Tilda does Sketch Saturday

Here's my entry for this weeks fab sketch over at Sketch Saturday which I turned on it's side. I used this adorable Tilda image I received in an image swap with Lil Paper Pixie herself, the lovely & hugely talented Sarah. Go see her blog here to see her marvellous creations. I coloured her with my pencils, but could not watercolour it as the paper goes wrinkly! I think I should have chosen some lighter DPs though as the image looks a bit subdued against these gorgeous My Minds Eye papers I got from Stampeezee. I'm afraid I won't be able to send this to anyone as the beads are a bit weighty & it would cost me a fortune, LOL! I got the idea for the folded flower out of this months Scrapbook Inspirations. Though I would say, if you are going to try it, make you use a long enough strip of paper to go full circle. I had a couple of false starts! Also, the more even the folds, the neater the outcome. I quite like it, so expect to see more on future cards!
Hope you are all having a great weekend. We went out for a meal at lunch time & I am feeling very roly poly just now! I have been to the gym a couple of times this week, but I have just undone all my hard work. Oh well, I'll start again tomorrow!
Big love to you all!

Whiff of Joy Challenge 35 & Sketch Saturday

Just a quickie as I am so late with this card. Could not pass up the opportunity of submitting an entry for the DT prize over at Whiff of Joy this week. However, I messed up my first card & had to start again, hence the late finish! Furthermore, I missed all the natural light & could not take any decent photos of my card! Hope you can make out the 3D on the basket & the frill on her blouse. I paper pieced her whole outfit & coloured the rest with distress inks. The layout is based on the fab sketch at Sketch Saturday & rotated 90 degrees. The DPs are K & Co & everything else is from my stash.

SOS Sketch - Challenge 56

Just a quickie this evening. I've been dying to use this stamp from Sugar Nellie for ages & she has finally seen ink. She reminds me so much of my sister who seems to spend loads on clothes! Truth be told she is not that bad, it is just because she lives in France, but when she has been over to England of late, lets just say she has been taking advantage of the favourable exchange rate! Don't tell her hubby! I have just managed to get this done in time for A Spoonfull of Sugar challenge this week, which is a lovely sketch provided by MicheleO. I have coloured her with my trusty distress inks, but used a colour scheme outside my comfort zone, which I really rather like. The DPs are Bo Bunny & I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder which I highlighted with a pink chalk ink. The paper flowers are from Dies to Die For, & the ribbon flowers I picked up ages ago at The Paper Mill.
I'm off to play squash now. Since the 10k I have done the bare minimum in terms of exercise & I can really feel it. This week marks a return to healthier eating & more exercise. lets see at the end of the week if I have managed to continue what I started. Hope everyone in Blogland is feeling happy & well!

Creative Inspirations meets Friday Sketchers

There is a lovely simple sketch at Friday Sketchers this week, but my interpretation turned out a bit bland so I had to add a bit of extra bling, but I still feel it is lacking a bit of WOW! I guess she turned out OK in a shabby chic kind of way! I am also entering this in for the Creative Inspirations challenge this week, which is paper piecing, which I did on Tilda's pinafore & bow. My DPs are K & Co & she is coloured with my trusty distress inks.
We have been over to my parents in Clitheroe this weekend for Father's Day. I do find buying pressies for my Dad hard. However, he appreciates his beer & is always happy to accept a few bottles of his favourite tipple! My husband on the other hand, is still a big kid, & there is always a video game he needs that the boys were happy to give him!
Hope you have all had a good weekend, only 5 days to go till the next one!!

Crafts 4 Eternity - Sketch 36

I'm really happy with this card, it took a lot of thought & effort but it turned out just how I hoped in the end. That's quite unusual for me! I love the sketch at Crafts 4 Eternity this week, but it turned out to be quite difficult to find a background shape I could adapt for the sketch. I only have one set of Nesties & they were too small to fit this framed image inside. So I used a sample of a larger one I had as a template, I cut it out & then glued embroidery thread around it to hide any imperfections & add a bit of extra texture. I have lovely Dena to thank again for these fabby MME papers. The image is from Sugar Nellie coloured with Distress Inks & the sentiment is from Stamps Away. I think it turned out so well because it is the card I will be giving my Dad for Father's Day this weekend. He reads the paper from cover to cover everyday. Ooh to have that kind of time! Is it wrong to yearn for retirement so ardently at 38? I keep doing the lottery, but so far have never won more than a tenner! I know I have the winning numbers, :-) I just do not know which week they are going to come up! :-(
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

3 in 1 Challenge

Having been away I am dying to get my teeth back into all the great challenges out there. This card has to cover three bases! The sketch I used is the current one over at Sketch & Stash. I have used old & new stash on this. The lilac paper is really old from Paper Adventures I got when I started crafting about 6 years ago. Back then I was into scrapbooking mainly & this came in a QVC kit. The pink Cherryarte DP is a more recent purchase, from Silly Monkey Crafts I think. My new stash are the butterfly buttons I got from Stampeezee, in the £1 section! They also qualify the card for this weeks challenge at Spoonfull of Sugar this week which is butterflies. Which is a good job as I thought I was using Butterfly Tilda from the Spring collection, but I think she is actually a fairy! Finally the colour scheme at Colour Create this week is lilac, blush pink & mossy green. I have to say I thought this card would look fab, but I am not totally happy with it. Those wings are a bit OTT! Though it does look better in real life, the papers do not show up so well in the photo.
Hope your week has gotten off to flyer, unlike me & my hubby Paul. I am blaming him for undercooking the sausages on the BBQ we had yesterday. He felt too sick to go into work today & worked from home, I have spent most of the day in bed! Anyway, I am feeling well enough to do some crafting now, so hopefuly I will be in work tomorrow - oh joy!! Thankfully the children did not have any sausage or we would have been in a mess!

Sugar Bowl - Challenge 12, Lia's Sketch

I'm back from my hols & eager to get back to to my card making, slightly less keen to have gone back to work, LOL! I have only been away a fortnight & it feels like I have missed so much! I have done some visiting, but there has been so much to see, I have not had time to leave any comments, so a big Hello to you all! I have followed Lia's wonderful sketch over at the Sugar Bowl. Now I thought I was also following the green & blue colour challenge too, but these gorgeous My Mind's Eye papers, sent to me by the awesomely talented Dena, turned out to be more turquoise & green in daylight. Last night when I was making this card, they looked more blue in artificial light. There is blue in them I can assure you, but you have to squint a bit to see it! I have coloured my Gorjuss girl, also sent by Dena (what a star!) in green & blue too. Anyway, I leave it up to the lovely Sugar Babes to decide if my card qualifies for entry into the prize draw. I have not seen them yet, but I know I am really going to want/need those Diane Duda stamps! Not much else to tell you about this card, except she was coloured with my trusty distress inks, & the gold spacer on the flower is from the Hobby House.
Hope everyone out in Blogland is happy & well & having a great weekend!

Andie xx
